Free Dramaturgically yours… series: I have a dream by Martin Luther King

The last in the Dramaturgically yours… series! I have a dream by M.L. King

My beloved friends,

It’s been a series of enriching learning with my recent special seminars on Mastering body language and Making friends with impromptu speaking.

The long-awaited finale for the Dramaturgically yours… series is here!  In August, we had a local twist with Too big? Too small? , now I will transport you to a liberating moment in international history, with Martin Luther King’s famous speech, ‘I have a dream’.

King was the youngest man to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.  He delivered his ‘I have a dream’ speech on 28 August, 1963, at the Lincolm Memorial, Washington. D.C,  as President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization formed to provide new leadership for the now burgeoning civil rights movement.  I like this speech primarily because it’s a very powerful speech on 2 things that resonate greatly with me – Freedom and dreams. Dreams are powerful fuel for our actions, and I believe everyone deserves to be free in their own right.

Relive the moment when King presented his closing speech with me!  Details as follows:

  • Title: I have a dream by Martin Luther King
  • Venue: Filcom Toastmasters, Cairnhill Community Club, Level 2, Conference Room, 1 Anthony Road, Singapore
  • Date: 26 November 2010
  • Time: 7-10pm

I look forward to seeing you there!

With love,
Pei Shan

Actor, Writer and Director of Cynthia's sober! Cheers! - Shan

My beloved friends,

It’s been a while since my last act with D. H. Lawrence’s Snake – A triumph of style and idiom, and Roald Dahl’s Matilda – interpreted MY way.  I’m back again with a vengeance!  This time, not only have I taken up the challenge of acting out a monodrama, but that of writing and directing this!

Weaving from storytelling with Roald Dahl’s Matilda to wild imaginations with D. H. Lawrence’s Snake, Cynthia’s sober! Cheers! brings to our attention growing societal issues that pervade the very fabric of life – our social relationships.

With a dry wit and a love for all things expressive, Yip Pei Shan is a creative mitochondria (energy house) behind her writings to date.

I am my own favourite author! – Yip Pei Shan

Come, ready, armed with your imagination and let your hair down with my characterisation of Cynthia and what she has to share with you in an original monodrama written, directed and acted by Shan!  Details as follows:

  • Title: Cynthia’s sober! Cheers!
  • Venue: New Millennium Advanced Toastmasters, Cairnhill Community Club, Level 2 Conference room, 1 Anthony Road, Singapore
  • Date: 14 June 2010
  • Time: 7-9.30pm

I look forward to seeing you there!

With love,
Pei Shan

Free Dramaturgically yours… series: Snake – Nagging and sinuous

D. H. Lawrence’s Snake – A triumph of style and idiom

My beloved friends,

With my latest audience in raptures over NYP can do, so can YOU! (photos too!), I am back on the acting scene!

D. H. Lawrence has been one of the most interesting and controversial writers that captured my attention several years back.  Snake is one of the very few English poems in free verse, and also one of his famous poems.  I love the transformation and investment of a complete and common experience with mythical grandeur.

Curve and weave your way to my bringing Snake to life!  Details as follows:

  • Title: Snake – Nagging and sinuous
  • Venue: Braddell Heights Advanced Toastmasters, Braddell Heights Community Club, Room 03-03, Serangoon Ave 2, Singapore
  • Date: 21 November 2009
  • Time: 2.30-5.30pm

I look forward to seeing you there!

With love,
Pei Shan
